"To promote cycling and unite cyclists throughout Mount Washington Valley"

WELCOME

Welcome to the Mount Washington Valley Velo Club site. This site is a resource for members as well as fellow cyclists who may be visiting the Mount Washington Valley. This site provides a listing of events, ride schedules, and other pertinent links. We encourage all to visit our sponsors as they make up an important element of our community.

We are a group of cyclists who enjoy staying in good health, the camaraderie of fellow cyclists, and a bit of competition among friends. We cover a variety of ages and experiences and enjoy sharing the many benefits of this sport with others.

Items of Special Interest

Bartlett Library Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00

Here's one you won't want to miss! If you are a cyclist, history buff or just like a good laugh you'll want to take part in the presentation/book discussion on Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00 at the Bartlett Public Library.

We will be reading The True Account by Howard Frank Mosher. In a quixotic recasting of the Lewis and Clark story, Mosher traces the adventures of True Kinneson and his nephew Ticonderoga on an epic race to beat the famed expedition to the Pacific.

Marianne Borowski will do her own recounting of this famous expedition as she shares her adventures while tracing the Lewis and Clark expedition on her bicycle!

Come join us for this fun-filled, double-punch program. Books are available at the library, but if you are short on time and can't get to the book come anyway and enjoy the presentation.

Attention Mount Washington Valley Velo Club Members and Friends:

Sally McMurdo, Velo Club member, and Bill Kennedy, president of Granite State Wheelmen, are teaming up to offer a League of American Bicyclists' Road I Course this fall. This 9 hour course will teach basic bike safety, maintenance, and handling skills. The purpose of the course is to teach bicyclists skills to make them more independent, confident, and safe on the roads and trails. It is also the prerequisite course to the League's LCI ( League Cycling Instructor) training. It is open to adults and children over 14 of varying cycling experience and knowledge. The cost of the course, including materials, is about $60 per person.
The course is designed to divide time between the classroom and outside bike activities. About 4 hours will be spent inside in discussions, activities, and demonstrations related to bike maintenance, safety, and the laws regarding bicyclists' and motorists' rights and responsibilities. The remaining 5 hours will be spent outside on parking lot drills and on road practice of bike handling and safety maneuvers. The completion of the course will be a multiple choice test and on road evaluation.
The location and date of the course has not been determined, at this time. The plan is to schedule it for a weekend in September. Sally would like to know who's interested in taking the course and whether they would prefer a one day 9 hour session or a 2 day session format.
If you are interested or want more information, please contact Sally at https://webmail.roadrunner.com/webedge/do/mail/message/mailto?to=srmcmurdo%40yahoo.com or call her at 603-383-9405
